Early on in the Star Wars universe the term Padawan was used to describe a Jedi with no facial hair, it has since evolved into the term for child. Women Jedi, Padawan and a chosen few are the only one’s able to remain beardless while resisting the Dark Side.
The traits of Jedi and the bearded go hand in hand, here are the most notable:
Qui-Gon Jinn
This Jedi Master and teacher of the legendary Obi Wan, epitomized the the strength and wisdom that can only be achieved through one’s beard. His legacy would be felt for generations to come.
Jun Seros
A jedi Knight and Master known for his deep loyalty to the republic. Loyalty is a trait common among both Jedi and bearded men alike.
K’Kruhk
A Jedi Master and member of the High Council, K’Kruhk was known for his grittiness and survival instinct. Having survived the Clone Wars, The Jedi Purge and living to fight alongside Luke in the Return of the Jedi; K’Kruhk embodies toughness. Beards are not only synonymous with toughness they are also inherently intended to protect one’s face.
Ki Adi Mundi
Jedi Master and General became a martyr during the Great Jedi Purge, Order 66. Looked to for his leadership, this great Jedi and his beard fought fiercely throughout the Clone Wars defending the force.
Obi-Wan Kenobi
Jedi Master who was student to Qui Gon Jinn, as well as teacher to both Anakin and Luke Skywalker. Among his long list of Jedi traits, his patience stands out most. His ability to to see the big picture and find hope in a bloodline thought lost is what saved the republic. This is most evident in acquiring the gift of telepathy in order to communicate from the dead. Obi -Wan is able to lead from beyond and guide a new generation of the force. Patience is also key to growing a great beard.
Luke Skywalker
In the upcoming continuation of this saga, Luke now older, has taken on many of the traits of the Jedi before him. Having been hardened by battle and gained experience through his mentors, has earned his beard as well as place in history. It is the age old transition from boy to man, both physically and metaphorically.
Now we can’t say what happens when a Jedi forsakes his powers and beard, We have an idea though…
besides, shaving means shitty razors and after shave…
And we all know this is what you look like in your front camera after you shave…
No one is saying all clean shaven people are bad…
